Why are my strawberry beds dying?

QUESTION:

Can you give me insight as to what is happening to my strawberry bed? The plants seem to be drying up and dying. I water on a regular basis. Ideas? Thanks, Marilyn

ANSWER:

The strawberry plants may be dying from a number of causes, and from the picture it would be difficult to diagnose. I would suggest taking a still live, but dying plant to your local Extension Service, where the leaves, roots, stems, etc. could be examined.
