Leawood Italian restaurant Mio adds a pizzeria

Mio, an Italian restaurant at 4800 W. 135th St. in Leawood, has been open less than a year. But owner Julian Viso has already added a sister restaurant.

Both Mios share appetizers, soups, salads and an Italian wine list. But the new pizzeria, which opened Monday, has a build-your-own bruschetta bar ($6) and a wide selection of customizable pies with thin, chewy crusts.

Toppings include seven cheeses, nine meats and a long list of veggies -- everything from red onions to Brussels sprouts, kalamata olives, arugula and Viso’s favorite, fennel.

Mio’s pizzas come in two sizes, 8-inch ($8) and 14-inch ($12). Toppings cost $1.50-2.50 extra. Fourteen-inch specialty pizzas cost $14 (or $16 if you want a gluten-free crust) and come with upgrades like lobster (Arugosta) and fig (Toscana). Browse the full menu
