Axe Capoeira shares a taste of Brazilian martial arts at the Ethnic Festival
This weekend while I was helping to chop collard greens for the feijoada and mixing up passion fruit punch for thousands of visitors to the Ethnic Enrichment Festival, I took a few minutes out to talk to the founders of Axe Capoeira Kansas City, Ronald “Preguica” Harvey and Eric “Relogio” Agson.
Brazilian capoeira is a style of martial arts that combines combat moves, song and dance. Axe Capoeira includes classes for children and adults. The group is a popular fixture of the annual festival in Swope Park that features performers representing more than 60 countries.
