Iconic Kansas City barbecue chain open seven days a week — for now
An iconic Kansas City barbecue chain has announced it will now be open seven days a week.
Joe’s Kansas City Barbecue announced in an Instagram post over the weekend that all its locations would be open on Sundays.
“So much to do in KC this weekend! Get out to the K and root on the Kansas City Royals. Head out to the Fan Fest or to the P&L to root on Team USA! And most importantly...Joe’s is open on Sunday! Dine In or Carry Out on the Joe’s To Go App,” the post said.
The local restaurant chain has been a stop for tourists and has captured the attention of Southern Living, TripAdvisor, Yelp, Food & Wine, The Eater and several others. Anthony Bourdain declared the spot to have the best BBQ in the world.
It was founded by Joe Davidson in 1996 in Oklahoma with the help of Jeff Stehney. He and his wife Joy Stehney wanted to open something in the neighborhood convenience store on 47th Street, which became the iconic barbecue gas station destination.
While Joe’s offers pulled pork sandwiches, rib slabs and barbecue sausage, the Z-Man sandwich is easily the most popular. All Joe’s locations are open Sunday through Thursday from 11 to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 to 10 p.m.
