In the late 19th century, an ad in The Kansas City Star stressed learning to swim as “a most important accomplishment.”
On June 24, the Kansas City Natatorium ran this ad for its swimming school, among others for Boston brown bread and Decker Brothers’ pianos.
Note that men and women were offered separate sessions.
