A new Cabela’s store is planned to open in late 2017 or early 2018 in Lee’s Summit, the Nebraska-based company announced Thursday.
The store, near the intersection of U.S. 50 and Interstate 470, will be the outdoor gear retailer’s second store in the Kansas City area. It opened a Kansas City, Kan., store in 2002.
Cabela’s said the 70,000-square-foot store is expected to hire about 150 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees closer to the time of opening.
The company said the store will use a new design layout but will retain Cabela’s signature taxidermy mounts and hands-on-experience areas such as an indoor archery range. It will offer a full range of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear.
