Presenting the winners of our kid-designed holiday wrapping paper contest
Another year, another difficult time picking the winners of the FYI kids wrapping paper contest.
Instead of choosing just one from each category — ages 8-12 and ages 7 and under — our panel of artists, editors and writers chose four and alternated the designs across the cover and back of the FYI section of Monday’s Kansas City Star print edition.
Here are our winning artists:
▪ Ice skates: Christine Znidarsic, 12, daughter of Mike and Celeste Znidarsic of Shawnee
▪ Candy cane: Lauren LeMay, 11, daughter of Shannon LeMay of Kansas City
▪ Peppermints: Madelyn Riggs, 11, daughter of Derek and Susan Riggs of Gardner
▪ Snowmen: Amaya Jimenez, 5, daughter of Krista Bolanos and Fernando Jimenez
And we have a runner-up: We could not resist sharing the drawing that made us smile the most, a Santa from 5-year-old Liam Saathoff, son of Candice and Brent Saathoff of Kansas City.
Thanks to all who entered, and happy holidays!
