Local group for teen girls featured on ‘Today’ on Wednesday
Rebel started in Kansas, but it’s taking the fight against unrealistic beauty standards and conformity all the way to the “Today” show.
The peer education program, founded by clinical psychologist Laura Eickman, began at Blue Valley Northwest High School in 2008. Rebel will be featured on NBC’s morning show between 8 and 9 a.m. Wednesday as part of the Love Your Selfie campaign. In its efforts to promote positive body image, the show enlisted Overland Park producer Sharon Liese of “High School Confidential” fame to work with Rebel to help create a #LoveYourSelfie public service ad.
