Alexandra Grant Talks Life With Actor Keanu Reeves At Launch Event

Both famously private, Keanu Reevesand Alexandra Grantkept their romantic relationship hidden before going public in 2019. At Grant's launch event for her new wine brand, she offered a glimpse into their shared lives as artists and friends.

Grant spoke at her LOVEwine launch event about being an artist and how she and Reeves balance their art and relationship.

"He's always so appreciative, so he's always cautious, I think, with feedback, and I would say the same," she told People magazine. Grant explained that " the key to it is the mutual respect and also just like, come on, it's play, right? It's play that we get to play creatively," when talking about their relationship. She also spoke about their shared belief in each other's work and independence.

The pair has not shared the details of their love story, but their friendship is long-recorded. Before they were publicly in a relationship, the couple was collaborating on projects. The first partnership was for Reeves' poetry book Ode to Happiness in 2011, which Grant illustrated. She told Vogue in 2020 that the book was initially a gift to the actor, but their friends loved it so much that they pushed for publication. They also co-founded a publishing house in 2017 before officially going public with their relationship in 2019.

Reeves has extensive film credits, including leading the John Wick and The Matrix franchises. Reflecting on their dynamic, Grant explained, "I've lived with John Wick, I've lived with Neo." She then compared Reeves' artistic process with her own, saying, "When he's in a character, for example, I have so much respect for that understanding that this is the middle to the end of a project, right? And I think the same goes for painting…it's not playing a character, but it is performing, you know, painting really is a form of performance too."

Although Grant and Reeves were linked over a decade ago, it was not until they attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala holding hands that they announced their relationship to the world. This event was a fitting place for an artist and an actor to go public. Adding insight into their timeline, a close friend of the couple, Jennifer Tilly, told Page Six in 2020 that the pair had been dating for years. Despite rumors, they are not married; Grant addressed the speculation by posting on Instagram, "Thank you to everyone for the congratulations on our wedding. Except we didn't get married," alongside a sweet photo of them kissing.

Grant's newest project combines her brand with her love of wine. Her love of wine started in Paris, according to People. The name LOVEwine is inspired by her project grantLOVE, which supports artists and art non-profits.
