This Crafter Made 'Garden Rocks' to Save Money and Add Whimsy to Her Garden-Here's How She Did It
Sometimes it's the little things that can make our homes magical.
And while a garden already has a lot of magical vibes, especially if it's full of wildflowers, herbs and other decor, there are easy, quick ways to enhance those whimsical aesthetics.
Crafter, thrifter and TikTok creator Haley Partridge (@haleeylauren) recently shared a video of her using painted rocks to label the crops in her garden.
While you can use or even make traditional stick garden stakes, these rocks are just a different way to label your crops with naturally occurring materials that blend seamlessly into a garden bed.
Find out how Partridge made them below.

Grab Some Rocks and Get Started
First, all you really need to do is go outside and find some rocks to get started. You'll preferably need one for every crop and/or garden you want to label, as well as rocks that are slightly flatter and more oval-shaped.
Then, paint one of the rocks' faces white or another light color, like yellow, and let it dry.
Next, take paint, paint markers or even Sharpies (though paint markers would likely work best), and start writing labels, drawing pictures of your crops or adding whatever you want to your garden.
Finally, after they dry, paint or spray a clear protective coating on top and place them in your garden beds or on the ground to create the cutest, whimsical addition to your garden.

What Do I Paint?
If you have too many or not enough crops to paint individual rocks for, you can also label whole sections of your garden instead, with this craft idea, including:
- Herbs
- Vegetables & Fruits
- Flowers
- [Insert Family Name Here] 's Garden
Really, it's up to you what you want to label, and even how big a rock you want to do it on. Ultimately, try to have fun.

"This Is a Great Idea"
Partridge's comment section was full of viewers praising her ideas.
"I love this idea," wrote one commenter. "I am about to plant seeds and I wasn't sure what I wanted to use as cute markers! This is perfect, thank you."
Others shared how adorable this would be as a gift or for a fun afternoon activity with children.
And the best part is that if you already have some paint lying around your home, this project is practically free.
