HGTV wants KC-area ‘House Hunters’ with opinionated kids

Looking to buy a new house with input from your opinionated children? HGTV is looking for you.

“House Hunters: FAMILY Edition” is searching for families who will be looking for homes in Overland Park between March and May this year.

“The best part, is that kids get to be involved!” states an email from Chelsea Jenkins, casting associate and coordinator with the show. “So we’re looking for opinionated, energetic kids who have real requests for what they want in their new home. (i.e. a huge tree in the backyard for a tree house or a play room where they can build a small stage to perform, a zip line in the backyard, etc. The sky is the limit with these requests!)”

The family budget should be between $200,000 and $1 million. And though the focus is on Overland Park, Jenkins says HGTV will consider families looking for homes in nearby communities.

“House Hunters: Family Edition” is going into its second season, and casting is being done in nine other cities across the country, including Austin, Texas; Madison, Wis.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Scottsdale, Ariz.

The online application asks for the number and age of children in the family, a description of the family dynamic, where and why the family is moving, and a price range for the new home.

It also asks for two uploaded family photos. Ideal candidates should have children between the ages of 7 and 15.
