Peek inside mansion the KC Symphony Alliance will transform in next few months
The Kansas City Symphony Alliance has chosen a three-story colonial mansion in Ward Estates as its Symphony Showhouse for 2018.
The 5,034-square-foot home, built in 1915 and owned by Dr. Tim and Heather Pluard, has six bedrooms, five bathrooms and three half baths. It sits on a corner lot near the historic site of the Battle of Westport.
Judy Barackman and Vandra Solomon will serve as co-chairs of this year’s showhouse. Each of the home’s rooms, halls, gardens and even some of the closets — 35 spaces in all — will be decorated by a juried designer.
The finished home at 445 W. 56th St., will be open to the public April 21-May 13, with specific times to be determined. Tickets are $20 in advance online and at various ticket outlets yet to be determined. They will also be available for $25 at the door.
Last, year the Symphony Alliance gave an annual gift of $153,000 to The Kansas City Symphony, of which $116,000 was raised by last year’s showhouse in Central Hyde Park.
The Symphony Designers’ Showhouse also recently announced its membership in the American Society of Interior Designers in November.
