Just when you think Missouri and Kansas couldn’t possibly get any more love — politics aside — the universe keeps cheering yes, MO-KAN!
Money magazine recently placed Lee’s Summit and Overland Park, respectively in Missouri and Kansas, on its best 50 cities to live list. Around that time we spotted stately, shapely cutting boards in General Store & Co. in downtown Overland Park.
“The celebration of regional pride continues,” said store owner Mike Cole. “Even without a World Series team this year.”
The Missouri and Kansas cutting boards, designed in California, are made of bamboo, a renewable resource (the plants grow back in five years). Featuring rounded edges and accurate outline details down to the Bootheel, they are about 18 inches across with a leather toggle at the top for wall display.
At $25 each, they make for fun housewarming gifts, perfect for friends and family who move in either direction across the state line.
They’re versatile, too, and can be used for chopping, as a cheese and charcuterie board or simply in their plain state.
General Store & Co. is at 7922 Santa Fe Drive in Overland Park, generalstorekc.com.
