Here’s a story just about every Kansas State football fan will agree with: ESPN college football writers think the Wabash Cannonball is the best pregame tradition in the Big 12.

On Wednesday, ESPN writers selected a pregame tradition from each of the five power conferences. K-State’s Wabash Cannonball joined Clemson’s Howard Rock, Ohio State’s dotting of the I, Colorado’s buffalo run and Auburn’s War Eagle. You can read about the five selections here.

Brandon Chatmon explained why Wabash Cannonball was selected over other Big 12 pregame rituals.

This is what he wrote:

“If you haven’t been in Bill Snyder Family Stadium when ‘The Pride of Wildcat’ band is playing ‘Wabash Cannonball’ in front of the Kansas State student section, you need to put that on your bucket list. It’s hard to not get in the football mood when watching the Wildcats band get the student section hyped for Big 12 football. Not only is “Wabash Cannonball” a catchy tune, but it also combines with the coordination in the student section to become one of college football’s best pregame traditions.”

ESPN writer Jake Trotter posted a video of Wabash Cannonball on twitter to reinforce the selection.
