Three men shot at on I-35 in north KC

Three men were shot at while traveling in two cars on I-35 early Sunday morning in what appears to be a targeted act of violence and not a random shooting, North Kansas City police said Sunday.

Police were notified about 3 a.m. Sunday that three shooting victims had arrived at a local hospital to be treated for their injuries, none of them life-threatening.

The men – two 25-year-olds and one 33-year-old – told police they were traveling together but in separate vehicles on southbound I-35 between Missouri 210 and the Missouri River when a vehicle approached them from behind.

The men said someone shot at them from the other vehicle. Two of the shooting victims were traveling together in one vehicle, the third was in a separate vehicle.

The investigation had one lane of southbound I-35 closed Sunday morning near 16th Street.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the North Kansas City police department at 816-274-6032 or the TIPS Hotline, 816-474-TIPS (8477).
