Gladstone woman seriously injured in crash that shut down I-49
A 69-year-old Gladstone woman was seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a crash that closed Interstate 49 in both directions near Harrisonville.
Nellie C. Sumner was taken to a hospital after she was injured in the crash, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The highway has since reopened.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m. along southbound I-49 just north of Harrisonville.
Sumner was a passenger in a 2008 Mercury Mariner the vehicle hydroplaned and the driver lost control. The SUV slid off the road and struck a guardrail. It then traveled across and off the road again and struck the guardrail.
