Paige Denim Trunk Show
Open up your pocketbooks, ladies: Clique Boutique in Prairie Village is hosting a Paige Denim trunk show through March 12. All of the latest spring styles will be 15 percent off- and that’s a deal you can’t pass up. Clique Boutique closes at 6 p.m. Friday and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Big 12 Tournament Semifinals
Whether you’re watching at home or at the Sprint Center, all eyes will be on the four teams competing for the Big 12 Championship Sunday. Kansas will face Baylor at 7 p.m. Friday. If crowds don’t bother you, head to the Power & Light District for watch parties galore.
Wine and Cheese Tasting
Start your weekend off at Sullivan’s in Leawood, which is offering a walk-in wine and cheese tasting starting at 5 p.m. on the patio. For $20, customers can sip on spring-style wines, like Market Vineyards “Liquidity” Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc, Mark West Pinot Noir and Bodegas Muga Rose. Cheeses from the Midwest region will accompany each wine.
Out of the Blue: A Spring Butterfly Exhibit
Discover secrets of the rainforest when Powell Gardens opens up its butterfly exhibit for the spring season. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., onlookers can admire Blue Morpho and Paper Kite butterflies in the conservatory. Tickets are $4 for children 5-12 and $10 for adults. The exhibit runs through April 3.
Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Warm up for March 17 Saturday at Brookside’s annual parade. This year’s “Leaping Leprechauns” festivities start at 2 p.m. at 65th Street and Wornall Road and end at Meyer Boulevard and Brookside Road.
Rightfully Sewn at Anaphora
This Kansas City nonprofit, which offers seamstress training for at-risk women, is celebrating its inaugural scholarship recipients at Anaphora in Prairiefire. Attendees can shop from 6 to 7 p.m., with 10 percent of sales benefiting Rightfully Sewn. The awards portion of the program begins at 7 p.m. with appetizers, drinks and music to follow. Tickets are free; RSVP here.
Zootastik Learning Fest
The Kansas City Zoo is hosting a Zootastik Learning Fest every second Saturday and Sunday of each month. This month’s session is all about the birds and migration, and includes a activities, demonstrations and crafts for kids young and old. The Learning Fest takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is free with admission to the zoo.
