Here’s what’s happening in Kansas City Sept. 23-25


Plaza Art Fair

The 85th annual event begins Friday at 5 p.m. on the Country Club Plaza. The national art fair features more than 240 artists, three live music stages and more than 25 restaurant booths. The local showcase continues Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. To see the full schedule, click here.

Thompson Square

Country music duo Thompson Square is bringing their hit music to Grandview Amphitheater at 8 p.m. Before the husband-and-wife team take the stage, Kansas City’s own country band Hudson Drive will perform for the crowd. Kansas City Zoo Run

Support the Kansas City Zoo’s gorillas by participating in a 4-mile run starting at 8:30 a.m. Non-runners can opt for the 1-mile Family Fun Run at 9:45 a.m. All participants receive a custom-designed T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, free entry into the zoo and a finish-line spread that includes cinnamon rolls from Stroud’s and Shatto milk. Hallmarket: A Hallmark Art Fair

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Crown Center, view the work of more than 100 Hallmark artists, sculptors, photographers and designers. Items for sale include watercolor paintings, textiles, jewelry and photography. All purchases from the art fair go directly to the artists, so it’s a great opportunity to support local talent. American Indian Cultural Celebration

Head to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art for a day of Native American art, music and dance at the American Indian Cultural Celebration. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy performances, storytelling, art activities and demonstrations from the Native American community. Sunday Night Live

Support the Kansas City Hospice at their annual fundraiser in the heart of the Power & Light District. Sunday Night Live, which starts at 5 p.m., includes an open bar, food from local restaurants and live music from cover band Cherry Bomb. Enter your name in the SNL Prime Time Raffle for a chance to win over a dozen prizes valued at $1,000 or more. Tickets to the event are $200 and can be purchased here.
