One of the largest festivals of its kind, the annual Ethnic Enrichment Festival in Swope Park kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday. More than 60 different cultures will be sharing their native foods, crafts and arts until 10 p.m. The festival is $3 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. See the full schedule of events here.
Downtown Parkville is a treasure to behold, and the city’s annual Parkville Days festival begins Friday at 6 p.m. Take part in “Country Night” by singing along to the tunes of Jason Craig and the Wingmen, followed by Outlaw Jim and the Whiskey Benders starting at 8 p.m. The festival will also offer goods from local vendors, food and carnival rides until 10 p.m. See the full festival schedule here.
Meet You in the Kitchen
Did someone say free samples? From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Farm to Table Kitchen will offer free cooking demonstrations and samples in the City Market using fresh ingredients from the downtown farmers market. Stop by 20 E. 5th St. in the River Market to learn more, or click here.
Sangria Soiree Weekend at KC Wine Co
Enjoy the cooler weather with a glass of sangria at KC Wine Co. in Olathe. The local winery will have live music beginning at 3 p.m., and will also offer drink specials and snacks throughout the evening. Learn more about the weekend event, which continues Sunday, here.
Kemper Museum 2016 Block Party
Food trucks, live performances, an outdoor film and art exhibits will all be on display Saturday from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. The annual block party, in partnership with the Kansas City Art Institute, is free for the public. Free tours of the museum will be available beginning at 6 p.m., and the Kansas City Latin Jazz All-Stars will be performing at 6:30. For more information, click here.
Back to School Beer Ice Cream Social
What better way to celebrate the new school year than with beer-flavored ice cream? Head to the Foundry at McCoy’s in Westport for their annual Beer Ice Cream Social, which will feature four flavors made with McCoy’s Ginger Shandy, Fruili, Breckenridge Vanilla Porter and Kasteel Donker. The event begins at 6 p.m., and each scoop of ice cream costs $3.
