Modern art rises to meet the traditional elements of the home as guests ascend the stairs. On the stair landing, a larger-than-life dynamic abstract brings bold color, movement and emotion to the airy space, while the circular sculpture on the table and custom mirror provide balance and calm. By placing the mirror at the top of the stairs, guests can continue to appreciate the artwork from all angles.
In the second floor hallway, in what is typically a transition area, the focus is on the artwork. An original wall sculpture, composed of entwined ribbons of bent wood, appears to float on the wall, its curves providing a nice contrast to the lines of the hallway. Opposite the sculpture, oil paintings by emerging local artist Kevin Hobbs provide color and a sense of intimacy. Across the hallway hangs the contemplative painting “A Good Day.”
