Kansas City’s own mezzo-soprano, Joyce DiDonato, joins London-based orchestra, The English Concert, for a night of music from Handel’s Ariodante. Tickets for the show, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, can be purchased here.
Pig and Swig KC
Barbecue, bourbon and beer: This annual event kicks off Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Power & Light District. Ticket holders can enjoy bites from Cleaver & Cork, Joe’s Kansas City, Plowboys BBQ and Blind Box BBQ until 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $30 and include a souvenir bourbon-tasting glass, five bourbon-tasting tokens, beer samples and 2-3 oz. samples from each barbecue vendor.
Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins
Watch your hometown baseball team take on the Minnesota Twins at Kauffman Stadium. The game, which begins at 7:15 p.m., also offers a chance to call attention a worthy cause with Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Night. Arrive early for a chance to snag a Kelvin Herrera bobblehead. Doggies & Dogwood Days
Bring your pooch to Powell Gardens for its inaugural Doggies & Dogwood Days event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dogs and their owners can take part in special activities and informational sessions, and Midwest Animal ResQ and AnimalFAIR will be on site with adoptable cats and dogs. Food from Cafe Thyme Grill and Hereford house will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, click here.
