Butturff closing in on second straight No. 1 seed in PBA U.S. Open at Northrock

The finals were nearly set for the 2018 PBA U.S. Open at Northrock Lanes, and Jakob Butturff remains on top of his game.

Butturff, of Chandler, Ariz., was the top seed out of round-robin competition at last year’s U.S. Open in Liverpool, N.Y., losing in the end to six-time champ and No. 2 seed Rhino Page.

Butturff was in good position again this week, leading the pack after the second of three 8-game blocks of match play (see results below). Results from the final (third) round of match play did not make the Eagle’s Tuesday night deadline.

The top five bowlers after Round 3 of match play were to advance to Wednesday’s stepladder finals.
