Assault suspect in standoff with Kansas City Police
A suspect surrendered after police surrounded an east Kansas City home for nearly five hours Sunday.
Police went to the home near 12th Street and Hardesty Avenue about 4:30 p.m. and shut down several blocks.
Police were looking for the person in the house as part of an investigation of an aggravated assault.
Tactical response officers, negotiators and support personnel collaborated to bring the suspect to surrender, a police spokesman said.
