With Father’s Day, Juneteenth and Independence Day all approaching, you’re bound to go to at least one cookout in Kansas City this year.

Whether you’re hosting or asked to bring summer cookout staples, grocery stores around the KC metro will have everything you need to have the best barbecue in the neighborhood.

WHAT’S THE PRICE AT KANSAS CITY STORES?

Every store in the city will have a different price for the same items. We looked at a few common items for summer barbecues at local grocery stores and compared the cost.

Hy-Vee

  • Charcoal: Prices range from $4.79 to $13.69 for a single bag. The price varies on the weight and brand of charcoal. An 8-pound bag of charcoal from Kingsford cost $8.39.

  • Hot dogs: Vary between $1.39 and $18.89 per package depending on the brand, size and amount of hot dogs in each package. For instance, Ball Park beef franks cost $6.29.

  • Hot dog buns: Prices range from $1.79 to $7.39 per package and like hot dogs, the prices vary depending on the amount of buns or the brand. The Hy-Vee brand hot dog buns cost $2.69.

  • Condiments: common condiments like mustard, ketchup and relish all range between $1.39 and $10.49 per bottle. The Hy-Vee brand relish costs $2.09, while mustard and ketchup costs $1.39.
