The hit Broadway musical “The Cher Show,” which was supposed to make its Kansas City debut in December 2020, finally will come here next year.

The Tony Award-winning musical was scheduled for the Kansas City Broadway Series (now PNC Broadway in Kansas City), but the pandemic wiped out the show’s national tour. Now it is back on the road, and it will stop at the Starlight Theatre.

Starlight announced Monday that “The Cher Show” will kick off its seven-show 2024 AdventHealth Broadway Series that also will include “Come From Away,” which was postponed last summer at Starlight.

“The Cher Show,” a jukebox musical that ran on Broadway in 2018-19, features three women sharing the title role as the pop star grows into a superstar and an icon. It includes 35 of Cher’s hits.

“Come From Away” follows the true story of 7,000 passengers stranded in a small town in Newfoundland after the attacks of 9/11. It became the longest-running Canadian musical in Broadway history with more than 1,600 performances from 2017 through 2022.

Also on Starlight’s 2024 schedule is the popular percussion extravaganza “Stomp,” the classic musical “West Side Story” and three family-oriented shows, “Disney’s The Little Mermaid,” “Shrek the Musical” and “Peter Pan.”

“Stomp” and “Shrek the Musical” are weekend specials that can be added to the regular five-show season. Season tickets are on sale now at kcstarlight.com. Tickets to individual shows will go on sale later.

“Disney’s The Little Mermaid” will run July 9-14 at Starlight.
