While the weather doesn’t show it, spring is right around the corner in Kansas City, and the Country Club Plaza is ready to celebrate.

The Plaza’s famous bunnies return on Monday, March 20, the first official day of spring.

The statues — named Amy, Bess, Brian, Ellyn, Kate, Lee, Nicholas, Peter and Sue — turn the shopping district into an Easter wonderland.

The annual tradition started in 1931. More recently, statues of pelicans, turtles and swans have joined the bunnies throughout the Plaza.

The Plaza is also donating to the Missouri House Rabbit Society, which has saved over 2,000 real rabbits in the Kansas City area and works to educate residents about proper rabbit care.

Check out this map to find the bunnies’ locations. The bunnies will be on the Plaza until April 24.

What else is coming to the Plaza?

In addition to the bunnies and other critters, 3DHQ, a three-dimensional model creation suite, is hosting a create-your-own-bunny day from 1 to 9 p.m. April 21.

The bunnies cost $25 and come with a 3D model featuring the bunny of your choice, a painting kit and a free 3D painted scan of yourself next to the bunny. Book your reservation here.

Also, the Classic Cup Café at 301 W. 47th St. is hosting a special brunch to celebrate the end of the Plaza bunny season. The café is taking reservations for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 for $51 per person, which includes:

  • $20 toward brunch

  • A cinnamon roll

  • A paint your own Plaza bunny kit from 3DHQ
