Get into the holiday spirit with live music on the Kansas City streetcar this December
The Kansas City streetcar won’t just offer free transportation between Union Station and the River Market this holiday season — it will also treat riders to free musical performances.
After several pandemic years on hiatus, the KC Streetcar Holiday Jam is back in business from until Dec. 17. As you travel along main street through downtown and the Crossroads, you may find yourself in the midst of an impromptu concert.
“Music will range from traditional holiday music (to) covers and original music performed by local artists,” KC Streetcar wrote on the event’s web page. Some performances will take place at streetcar stops, while others will happen aboard the specially decorated Holiday Streetcar.
Here’s where and when you can expect to hear performances this month:
Saturday, Dec. 3, noon - 1:30 p.m.: Watchman Whitworth will perform acoustic pop on board the Holiday Streetcar
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 4 - 5:30 p.m.: Love x 2 will perform blues, jazz, holiday tunes and covers on the trumpet and melodica on board the Holiday Streetcar
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 5:30 - 7 p.m.: Brooke Knoll will perform classical and contemporary harp music on board the Holiday Streetcar
Wednesday, Dec. 14, 5:30 - 7 p.m.: C.T. Thongklin will perform classical, contemporary and pop music on the violin on board the Holiday Streetcar
Wednesday, Dec. 14, 6 - 7:30 p.m.: Heartsong, the Kansas City Women’s Chorus, will perform holiday music at the Union Station streetcar stop
Saturday, Dec. 17, 10 a.m. - noon: Volker Brass, a brass quintet, will perform classical and holiday music in the City Market
