Monster mash on the runway? Kansas City Fashion hosts second Halloween costume show
The Truman in downtown Kansas City turns into a spooky runway Thursday night. Kansas City Fashion hosts its second annual Halloween fashion show, featuring over 50 local models.
The runway superstars will be dressed in their best Halloween costumes. Last year’s event saw Buzz Lightyear and his friend Woody, Coraline, Christina Aguilera, Katniss Everdeen and Andy Reid walk down the aisle.
The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and you can get your tickets here. It’s $29 for general admission and $200 for the VIP area, which includes a reserved VIP lounge, four drink tickets, backstage access and photos from a professional photographer.
Performances by artists Joey Cool, Broderick Jones and an unannounced special guest highlight the night. While not a performer, last year’s event saw a surprise appearance by Sporting KC forward Johnny Russell.
The fashion show is partnering with Fashion Honors Autism, a nonprofit in Lenexa that provides sensory workshops that tackle issues children on the autism spectrum may have, including:
Self-image and isolation-based issues that arise as they grow up
Confusion and misinterpretation of sensory needs as “bad behavior”
Personal development
Part of the proceeds and donations from the event will go toward the nonprofit. Joshua Bolden, founder of Fashion Honors Autism, hopes to use the proceeds to make an impact in the autism community on a national scale.
“I am super excited that we get to partner yet again with Kansas City Fashion as they host their second-annual Halloween fashion show for kids with autism,” Bolden said in an Instagram video.
