Heading to KC Cornucopia this weekend? What the family-friendly festival has in store

The Kansas City Power & Light District’s second annual Cornucopia: KC’s Ultimate Fall Fest gets underway Friday, and features a ferris wheel named “BIG ELI.” Cornucopia will cover three streets throughout the District and surround KC Live! The event, which runs through Sunday, features family-friendly activities, carnival rides, concessions and more.

Cornucopia takes over Kansas City and turns the Power and Light District in a fall wonderland this weekend.

The free fall festival brings family-friendly fun, flavors and more to the entertainment center. See the streets decked out in fall colors, play games and enjoy some of Kansas City’s local vendors.

It’s open at these times:

  • Friday: 5 to 9 p.m.

  • Saturday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Sunday: Noon to 6 p.m.

WHAT’S PLANNED FOR CORNUCOPIA FEST?

Carnival rides, live music, pony rides, pumpkin carving and vendors from Strawberry Swing will be on hand, but the festival brings something new every day to P&L. Check out the schedule below.

The festival is free, but carnival rides are not. Each ride costs around four tickets and single tickets cost $1. You can also buy an unlimited ride pass for $25.

Pony rides, face painting and pumpkin carving all cost $10 each.

Friday

  • The Whiskey Mash Band plays at 7 p.m on the KC Live! Block stage

  • Silent disco all day

  • PNC “Mobile Learning Adventure,” a traveling exhibit that provides activities to help parents learn about early childhood education, on Walnut Street all day

Saturday

  • The PNC Plaza will have entertainment for kids with Literary KC, Science City and the Mattie Rhodes Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • A free petting zoo, featuring camels, donkeys, mini pigs and zebras will be open all day

  • Tom’s Town takes over the night from 5 to 8 p.m. with food and drinks

Sunday

  • A watch party in the KC Live! Block for the Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills at 3:25 p.m.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

You’ll be able to park in the KC Live! Garage for free on 13th Street and Grand Boulevard. Overnight parking is available if you’re going to the festival multiple days.

14th Street, covering Grand Boulevard and Walnut Street will be closed from Wednesday to Sunday because of the festival setup. This area surrounds Rally House, Chipotle, Insomnia Cookies and the KC Live! Block.
