Considering an electric car? You can test out options at this year’s KC Auto Show
Rev up those engines this weekend at the Kansas City International Auto Show. Starting Thursday and running until Saturday, stop through Bartle Hall in downtown Kansas City to see the latest and greatest in automobiles.
“After two years of a global pandemic and industry challenges, we’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to the Kansas City Auto Show to experience the exciting technology and styling of the latest vehicles,” said Marc McEver, 2022 Auto Show Chairman and Principal at Olathe Ford in a statement.
The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Thursday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Tickets for adults cost $20 and $10 for kids ages 8-12 at the box office, while tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for kids online. Children under the age of 7 are free.
WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR?
This year’s show has a big emphasis on electric cars. Visitors will be able to test ride multiple brands of electric vehicles.
Larry Carl, the producer of the Kansas City Auto Show, said the interest in these vehicles has grown dramatically over the past few years. Auto show organizers wanted to tap into that curiosity and give people a way to learn more about electric options.
“EV sales (electric vehicles) have been steadily increasing over that period of time nationally and here in Kansas City,” Carl said. “Naturally, we want to provide the opportunity for people to see as many EVs in one place at one time at the auto show.”
You’ll be able to take two laps around the track on the main floor of the auto show in one of these electric cars:
Kia EV6
Volkswagen ID.4
Ford F-150 Lightning
Ford Mustang Mach-E
WHAT ELSE CAN I SEE?
The “Outdoor Ride n Drive” will let you test drive new Toyotas, Fords or Volkswagens.
The sportiness and luxury of the 2023 Maserati Grecale, Maserati MC20 Cielo Global and Porsche Macon T will be on display.
The Kansas City Automotive Museum and private collectors will be exhibiting classic and vintage vehicles.
Subaru will have a booth with information about pet adoption as part of its initiative “Subaru Loves Pets.”
NASCAR favorite Bubba Wallace will be there to meet with fans on Saturday at 2:30.
