Kansas City, Kansas, is taking the National Taco Day celebrations to the next level. For the entire month of October in 2022, you can win prizes by visiting one of the city’s many Mexican restaurants and taco joints.

Visit KCK’s Taco Trail brings 57 restaurants together for a flavorful experience of culture and history with street tacos, Tex-Mex style tacos and much more. The city also put together a Taco Trail 101 guide so it’s easy to learn more about all the different variations of tacos you can find in KCK.

You can download the free Taco Trail pass and check in at each restaurant you visit using your phone. For every three restaurants you check in with, you can get one entry for the grand prize — a taco party for up to 15 people at Palacana on 8159 State Ave.

If you check in to three restaurants on Tuesday Oct. 4 for National Taco Day, you’ll get two entries for the prize.

Beyond the taco party and National Taco Day, you can continue using the pass to check in to KCK restaurants and win prizes.

  • Five restaurants: Receive a KCK Taco Trail decal

  • 15 restaurants: Receive a jar of Tradición from Spicin Foods

  • 30 restaurants: Receive a KCK Taco Trail t-shirt

  • 50 restaurants: Receive a KCK Taco Trail Championship Flag and have your name included on the Taco Trail Wall of Fame

If you post photos at any of the stops on the taco trail on social media and use the hashtags #KCKTacoTrail and #VisitKansasCityKS, you’ll be entered to win a $75 gift card to Amigo’s Grill & Cantina at 2737 S. 47th St.

If you don’t end up winning anything, at least you got to enjoy some of KCK’s finest Mexican food.

The Kansas City Star’s already been on a tour of some of KCK’s best Mexican restaurants. Now it’s your turn.

Check out this map, showing you where each restaurant is in the city.
