We asked and you answered: The Star’s readers have weighed in on their favorite hot chocolate spot in Kansas City. As the weather turns colder, we’re on the hunt for the best cup of cocoa in the metro. Now it’s time to vote on the final five.

After hearing from nearly 50 readers about their favorite hot chocolate, we narrowed the field down to the five finalists who received the greatest number of nominations.

Café Ollama was by far the most recommended spot this year, with 16 nominations. “Abuelita Lupe is a rich, smooth, traditional hot chocolate,” one reader said, referring to just one of the cafe’s hot chocolate varieties. Others called it “nostalgic” and “flavorful.”

Christopher Elbow Chocolates, which offers a variety of “drinking chocolate” based on their fan-favorite flavors, got seven nominations.

Main Street Coffee House in Independence, which did not appear on last year’s list, received five nominations — the third most in the list.

The nominees are rounded out in a tie between beloved local chocolatier André’s Confiserie Suisse and last year’s hot chocolate champion, Café Corazón.

Vote for your favorite in the box below — one vote per person. If you don’t see our poll, click here.

Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27. We’ll announce the winner on Monday.

Want to try even more hot chocolates recommended by your fellow readers? We’ve got your back. The other local spots nominated were Summer Moon Coffee, Caribou Coffee, The Roasterie, Second Best Coffee, Ground House Coffee, Cheval on Main and Betty Rae’s Ice Cream.
