When Chris took a new job in Kansas City, the Chicago couple went online for their initial home search. The Blue Valley native was eager to return to his roots and introduce his family to the area’s acclaimed quality of living.
“We came across Rodrock’s website and fell in love with their communities, locations and process,” Stine said.
During a whirlwind spring break trip, the Stines’ purchased the Hepton floor plan in Colton, a popular two-story, five-bedroom home that offers custom functionality within its sprawling 3,590 square feet in ample entertainment space and luxurious bedroom suites.

“Traci and I couldn’t be more pleased,” said Stine, who moved into the house with his family in July. “Everything was finished to 100 percent of our liking, including the swimming pool we added.”
Colton: Limited current inventory
Showcase homes in Colton are under construction by Rodrock Homes, but buyers have brought in well-respected builders such as Covenant, Roeser Homes, Providence Homes and James Engle Custom Homes.
“Buyers like the Stines are attracted to many things, from easy highway access to the park-like setting to stylish floor plans,” Holloway said. “Plus the fact that outside builders are allowed appeals to many.”
Currently Colton offers 14 homes for sale at various stages of completion and 15 homesites in Phase One. Homesites have sold briskly in Phase Two, with only four remaining that back to a tree line with Rodrock Homes as the builder.
