Barnes Realty, which has a long history of land sales, plans to open a new branch office in Platte City to improve land sale services and offerings for its clients in the Kansas City area.

The office is in a highly visible location at 1706 B Prairie View Road between Burger King and Arby’s and just west of Interstate 29.

Barnes Realty is a growing real estate business, founded more than 30 years ago by Rick Barnes, who was joined by his son, Jamie, in 1995. The main office is in Mound City, Mo., and a branch office is in Hiawatha, Kan.

“Over the years we’ve been in business, we’ve managed to develop good relationships with many sellers and buyers and our business has grown exponentially,” said Jamie Barnes. “We are now actively engaged in marketing and managing land in Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas; and we’ve done business as far away as South Dakota and Arkansas. Those good relationships have allowed us to grow our business over the years.”

He added that the company has been looking for a new office site for more than a year. “Our growing team has shown interest in the Kansas City area and this office location has all the characteristics we’ve been looking for. We have good access from the airport off of I-29 with visibility, good parking and lots of amenities close by.”

Barnes Realty’s primary focus is no-pressure land sales and the opportunity to own land. “That’s still one of the great aspects of our country,” Barnes said.

With the new office comes an opportunity for more staff and clients.

“Barnes Realty is seeking individuals that are honorable and trustworthy,” Barnes said. “If you’re interested in investing in your future, selling or trading any type of real estate, or just joining our team, call or email us any time.

“Barnes Realty sets the trend for how real estate is sold in the Midwest and this office makes us better able to serve a wider group of people,” he continued. “We have good land available in Northwest Missouri that still produces good returns. Our farm management efforts reach tenants from all over the area willing to pay market rent, and we work well with existing tenants to minimize turnover. A good tenant on your farm is worth more than just a capitalization rate.

“We want our customers to know that we reach buyers on a national level and feel that our presence in Platte City will add convenience to our customers throughout the area.”

Barnes added that those who are considering buying or selling farmland should strongly consider working with a local professional rather than a national chain. “At Barnes Realty, we get to know you and work hard for you, you aren’t just another name and number. We know the area and have contacts all over the country.”

The agents at Barnes Realty can reach buyers from all over the nation. Not only do they have an online presence, but they also offer a unique way to market property: using a helicopter (not one of those little drones) to take aerial videos of each farm that can be viewed on their YouTube channel. This allows potential buyers a complete view of the farm and surrounding area from their own computer or mobile device. Barnes said that online customers like the aerial videos much better than regular printed material. In addition, the helicopter allows Barnes Realty to cover a much larger territory than most real estate companies.

The company sells all kinds of real estate, from farms and homes to recreational and commercial properties through both conventional private transactions and at public offerings/auctions. One example of their listings is a 1,042-acre irrigated Missouri River bottom farm.

“Farms like this just don’t become available very often,” Barnes said.

The aerial video of the farm can be seen by visiting barnesrealty.com.

And with spring approaching, Barnes Realty wanted to remind buyers about Big Lake, which may be Missouri’s best kept secret. One hour north of the metro area on Interstate 29, Big Lake is a 640-acre oxbow lake with beautiful views and a serene community. Barnes Realty has several beautiful homes and lots available and has just listed a four-bedroom home. It has a deck overlooking the lake, a three-car garage and carport with boat hoists. Listing information is on the Barnes Realty website at barnesrealty.com.

Barnes Realty is located in Mound City, Mo., with a branch office in Hiawatha, Kan. Interested clients may call the Mound City office at 660-442-3177 or Hiawatha office at 785-742-4580.
