Dunn & Holland Team specializes in estates and rural properties
Teresa Dunn and Jim Holland share a love of rural real estate — farms, equestrian property, ranches, rural estate homes — so it was only natural that they team up to specialize in such properties.
About 18 months ago they formed the Dunn & Holland Team that is associated with Crown Realty’s Louisburg office. Dunn joined Crown Realty about three years ago after a successful career with Reece & Nichols Realtors spanning more than a decade. Holland, who still lives on the southeast Johnson County farm where he was raised, began his real estate career a year and a half ago after retiring from the construction industry.
“I’ve sold existing homes and new homes now for 15 years, but what I really love are rural properties,” Dunn explained. “I love the wide open spaces. When I decided to focus on rural real estate, I decided to associate with a company that has vast experience in that area.”
Crown Realty has just the experience and reputation she was seeking. For more than 40 years the independent real estate firm has been selling farms, homes, ranches and commercial property in rural areas. It started its business in Paola and later expanded to Louisburg and south Overland Park.
Holland is past president and CEO of Holland Corporation, a major Kansas City-based Midwestern contractor and site developer specializing in aggregate production, heavy grading and asphalt paving. He feels his decades-long business experience translates well into helping his clients sell or buy property.
In addition to heading a large construction company, he is a past president of the Lenexa Chamber of Commerce, past member of the Southwest Johnson County Board, past member of the American Royal Board, a Shawnee Mission Hospital Foundation board member and a member of the Southwest Johnson County Economic Development Group. He also is in the Lenexa Volunteer Hall of Fame.
Not only does Holland come from a farm background, he also is an equestrian and a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association, giving him a vast amount of experience in understanding rural property.
Selling farm property varies greatly from selling homes in the city, Dunn and Holland noted. They need to be experts in federal government farm regulations, know about mineral rights, understand rural utilities, septic systems and a number of other special considerations that are different from selling city property.
Dunn and Holland currently have numerous rural listings on both sides of the state line, ranging from small acreages to hundreds of acres. Many of them are valued at over $1 million.
They have sold properties to clients all over the United States and even to some in Japan and Canada.
“I really enjoy getting to know the clients,” Dunn said. “I like to have a personal relationship with each of my clients. My focus is finding the right buyer for a property listing or finding clients the right property to buy, one that truly fits their needs and dreams.”
