Last phase of Estates of Highlands Ridge now open

If a new home in western Shawnee in the highly sought-after Mill Valley High School attendance area is your dream, Prieb Homes can make it a reality.

Prieb Homes, a third-generation company that today is one of the largest home-building companies in the Kansas City area, has five finished two-story homes available in the Estates of Highland Ridge, just northwest of Kansas 7 and Johnson Drive in Shawnee. Several other homes are under construction, with varying completion dates, for those who want to make decor choices. Marti Lilja with ReeceNichols, who markets the community, said many of these homes back to future park land and all are on expansive home sites that average about 18,000 square feet.

“We offer a lot of variety and in fact have different architects who design our homes, so they are all different,” said Greg Prieb II, president of Prieb Homes.

Some of the homes have a modern design and decor, with white or gray kitchen cabinets and subway tile. Others have a Craftsman look with stained cabinets.

“These homes have all the features today’s buyers want — walk-in showers, laundry room on the second floor that opens to both the master closet and hallway, and an over-sized island in the kitchen that is a gathering spot for the family or great for entertaining,” Prieb said.

The main floor has an open design that flows easily from the entrance to the covered deck. Buyers also will find the latest finishes, including granite counter tops, custom cabinets and hardwood floors.

Although these homes are a generous size, Prieb said many buyers are choosing to finish the lower level and with today’s interest rates, can do so without going over the monthly mortgage budget. Those who buy now and opt for the lower-level finish can be in the home within 60 days.

The Estates of Highland Ridge is in the De Soto School District and minutes from highway access to whisk residents to anywhere they want to go in the metropolitan area. The community has a pool and cabana and is adjacent to a future city park. Golfers will enjoy the proximity to the Shawnee Golf Course and Country Club.

If buyers want a smaller home, they can choose one in Highlands Crossing, just across the street. Here they will discover four-bedroom, 3 1/2-bathroom two-story homes with three-car garages and prices in the $300,000s. Theses homes offer the same quality and features as the homes in the Estates of Highland Ridge, but are slightly smaller.

Available homes in Highlands Crossing are about 90 days from completion, so buyers have the opportunity to make decor choices. Those considering a move to Highlands Crossing can visit the Estates of Highland Ridge to see the quality of construction provided by Prieb Homes.

Lilja said both communities offer a quiet and serene atmosphere but are minutes from ample shopping and services at Kansas 7 and Shawnee Mission Parkway. Visit the furnished model home in the Estates of Highland Ridge, open 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, to see the quality of construction and the available finishes.
