Kit and Gerry Starr, of Starr Homes, are excited to introduce the stunning residence to be showcased as the 2015 Home of Distinction. This expansive 18,876-square-foot home is in the new, exclusive section of Mills Farm, The Enclave, at 16001 S. Cody St., Overland Park.

The home is open to tour Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays Nov. 13 through 22 to benefit KidsTLC, which provides children with a continuum of care through innovative and successful psychiatric treatment, community outreach, outpatient behavioral health, autism and wellness programs.

“This is an opportunity to work with a wonderful charity to help children while showcasing the newest in home design,” Kit Starr said.

“Designed by Scott Bickford of Bickord + Company Architects, this masterpiece has just about every unique feature you can imagine,” said Tamra Trickey with TLConcepts. “You will be amazed from the moment you enter with the jaw-dropping three-story glass windows overlooking the pool complete with three infinity-edge waterfalls, built by Complete Pools, all the way through to the lower-level basketball court.”

When approaching the home, the first thing you notice is the stone exterior by House of Rocks rising above the stellar landscaping by Next to Nature Landscaping on the two-lot site and accented by outdoor lighting from NiteLites.

This home is huge, but Kit Starr pointed out it is designed to be energy efficient with Marvin Integrity Windows from Kansas City Building Supply and A+ Insulation.

The talents of award-winning designer Janet Alholm are showcased in every room. The latest in kitchen design is shown in the upper and lower Factory Direct/Thermador chef’s kitchens featuring Rocktops Granite and Stone, Central States Tile and hardwood floors by Acme Floor Co. After admiring the intricate design of the hardwood floors, be sure to look up to see the elegant and whimsical light fixtures by Wilson Lighting. Alholm did not miss a detail, including the design of the Country Home Elevator interior finishes. The drapes and bedding by Ivanna Haus Interiors were chosen to fit the decor.

Fun and games abound in this home as you take the spiral slide from the lower level into the indoor basketball court. Hoops are not the only game. A 600-square-foot arcade, outfitted by Amini’s Galleria, and a 475-square-foot fitness center by All About Fitness add to the fun.

If a more sedentary movie screening is to your liking, you can choose from the indoor 450-square-foot 4K Digital Home Theater or the poolside 15-foot outdoor movie screen under the stars outfitted by Simplicity Pro AV.

Each and every detail has been taken into consideration throughout the design and construction of this home, including the garage floors by Granite Garage Floors.

This home is designed for family living and entertaining, with expansive indoor and outdoor living spaces, as well as a transitional four-season room. Stone paved balconies overlook the pool, which is at the center of all of the outdoor views from every room of the house on all three levels. Butler’s pantries allow for easy service whether gathered for a family meal in the informal dining area or for an elegant dinner in the formal dining room. The lower-level wine cellar defined by stone pillars and the lower-level kitchen make entertaining a breeze.

The main-level master suite is a true retreat with a sitting room, fireplace, coffee bar, spa-like master bath with tiled glass shower, free-standing tub and twin vanities, and a huge walk-in closet with an abundance of built-ins.

Whether you are considering building a new home or making a change to your existing home, Starr Homes can bring the same expertise demonstrated in this Home of Distinction to transform your concepts into reality. They will guide you through the design phase, help you better understand the financial requirements of your project and make your home dreams come true.
