Senior Star at Villa Ventura offers accredited senior living
Families who are in the process of finding the right senior living community for themselves or a loved one have a variety of choices in Kansas City.
“At Senior Star at Villa Ventura, we are here to help connect individuals with the right community for them, be it with us or elsewhere, we are committed to working with families until they find the right match,” said Villa Ventura executive director, Kimpton Hopkins.
When it comes to making decisions about the right kind of living environment, the Assisted Living Federation of America recommends family members and/or residents should do their own research, seek references, visit several different communities several times, and ask tough questions.
“At Villa Ventura, we hope all families are this thorough and we welcome the opportunity for deep meaningful conversations about our care and services,” said Hopkins.
“In fact, we hope families are aware that there is a voluntary accreditation process that is available to senior living communities through The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF),” said Hopkins. “This accreditation pushes up the quality of services even beyond the expectations set through state requirements.”
Villa Ventura associates are committed to Senior Star’s mission of inspiring people to embrace senior living and to the values the company asks each of them to uphold.
“We are fully committed to excellence in the service we provide to residents of our community and to their family members and we see accreditation as an important part of that process,” said Hopkins.
Accreditation: CARF accreditation means commitment to high standards of service in senior living.
CARF has been an international independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services since 1966. Senior Star at Villa Ventura has been CARF accredited since 2005, continually earning CARF’s highest assisted living accreditation (a three-year time period) with each renewal application.
To gain CARF accreditation, an organization must pass a rigorous set of internationally recognized organization and program standards during an on-site survey. According to the information available on carf.org, “Achieving accreditation requires a service provider to commit to quality improvement, focus on the unique needs of each person the provider serves, and monitor the results of services.”
“Being CARF accredited adds real value to our community,” said Villa Ventura community relations consultant, Marsha Hines. “CARF’s approach is to consult rather than simply inspect, meaning they work with us to better the areas of our community and services that need attention. It’s a lengthy process, but we are committed to continually enhancing our ability to better serve residents and their family members.”
CARF accreditation is not just a certificate. It has a purpose that aligns with the values of associates at Villa Ventura: continually seek excellence in the area of service and improve efficiency in order to surpass the expectations of the residents and families served.
“We’ve seen the assurance felt by family members who understand just what it means to be CARF accredited,” said Hines. “It often is a very important factor in their decision to move into our community.”
Villa Ventura currently has some apartment homes available. “It would be our pleasure to talk to families interested, show them around our beautiful community and let them experience why so many people call Villa Ventura home,” said Hines.
