Summit Custom Homes pays tribute to team members and customers
In the past few years, Summit Custom Homes has been fortunate to experience amazing growth in Kansas City, both with respect to the number of homes the company builds, and also with respect to the number of people on the company’s team.
“During this exciting time we have brought on many new team members, and each has brought their own talents and expertise to our work, helping us to improve the homes we build, and most importantly, the quality of the home-building experience for the families we are proud to serve,” said Fred Delibero, CEO of Summit Custom Homes.
“As we grow, it has been very important to me that Summit remains a great place to work,” he added. “People are the foundation of everything we do, not only the people we build homes for, but the people we work with every day. We have an incredibly hardworking team at Summit, and they are very good at what they do, but I also know that work is not all they do. They have families, hobbies and passions, and homes of their own. They are involved in their communities and in their churches, and give freely of their time and talents to many worthwhile causes.
“I have a beautiful wife and two amazing children of my own, and making time for them is important to me. I know my team feels the same way about their own families. It has been important to me to make sure they have time for everything that is important to them — being with their spouses, watching their kids play sports, meeting with friends, or pursuing their hobbies.”
In light of this, Summit Custom Homes will be changing the hours of operation in its sales centers in 2015. The main office will be open for traditional business hours Monday through Friday, as it has always been, but the sales centers will soon be open Tuesday through Saturday.
“We have decided to close our sales centers on Sundays and Mondays to give our team members plenty of time to rest and to be with their families,” Delibero said.
The dedicated team will still be available to meet in person in the sales centers five days a week. The sales centers will maintain their current hours there from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Tuesdays, when they will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Homebuyers will have plenty of opportunity to visit the sales center, tour the model homes, and consult with the team on site. And the homeowner care team will always be available to the current homeowners 24/7 in case of emergency.
“We have not made this decision lightly, but at Summit, we stand by ‘life happens here’,” Delibero said. “We aren’t just talking about our homes. We are also talking about the life that happens every day in the communities we build in and also in the communities where our team lives throughout Kansas and Missouri. We work hard to deliver an unparalleled home-building experience to families in the Kansas City area, but we also take time to connect with our coworkers, their families and with our community.
“Giving back has always been important to us at Summit, and we encourage our team members to be involved in their own communities and support their work any way we can. We also make time as a company to give back as a team.”
Summit Custom Homes employees recently made a trip to Harvesters, putting aside their own work for a day so that the entire Summit team could lend its time and energy to support Harvesters’ mission of feeding the hungry today and working to stop hunger tomorrow.
“We learned about the crucial and challenging work that Harvesters does to get food to people who struggle for steady access to nutritious meals, and we challenged ourselves to make a healthy meal to feed our entire team for less than $1.20 per person,” Delibero said. “Then we rolled up our sleeves and went to work packing backpacks with food for children to take home from school on Fridays, when many who are dependent on school lunches are facing an entire weekend without food.
“It was a great experience, not only because we got to be a part of Harvesters’ important work, but also because we got to spend the day together as a team outside of our usual routines and relationships. There was a lot of laughter, teasing and friendly competition as we worked to stuff as many backpacks as we possibly could. It was both a pleasure and a privilege to take time to be together as a team and give back to the Kansas City community.”
Delibero continued, “As we wrap up 2014 and enjoy celebrations together as a team and with our own families, we would like to thank our many trade partners and friends throughout Kansas City, and also our extended family of Summit homeowners. We look forward to serving you in 2015 at our main office in Lee’s Summit Monday through Friday, and in our sales centers Tuesday through Saturday. You can reach us at 816-246-6700, and we’re always open online at summitcustomhomeskc.com.
“From our family to yours, we wish you a happy holiday season.”
