Two award-winning builders are featuring custom model homes at The Village of Loch Lloyd during the Fall Parade of Homes. The model homes by Willis Custom Homes and Don Julian Builders will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 18.
Don Julian Builders’ reverse 1 1/2-story design at 16310 Turnberry won a First Place Distinctive Plan and Design Award and Willis Custom Homes’ reverse 1 1/2-story home at 100 Dunhill Court was a Pick of the Parade Runner-Up.
Each is thoughtfully designed for entertaining and family living, as well as giving extra attention to outdoor living spaces that take advantage of the beauty of Loch Lloyd’s distinctive terrain.
“Today’s homebuyer wants to expand living spaces outdoors that can be enjoyed eight or nine months of the year,” said Chuck Campbell, director of real estate and development at Loch Lloyd. “They want to walk out to a covered lanai with a fireplace, media center and soft furniture. They want to create an outdoor great room — a room where they can relax after work and entertain on the weekends.”

Each home site at Loch Lloyd is thoughtfully designed for maximum privacy. “We work very hard to preserve privacy as we design each new phase of development,” Campbell said. “We do our best to design each home site so that it backs up to golf or nature, not another home.”
The Parade entry by Don Julian Builders perfectly exemplifies how outdoor living adds to the excitement and character of a home. This $1.4 million reverse 1 1/2-story home has a dramatic four-season room overlooking the private, wooded back yard with a two-tiered waterfall. As a true four-season room, the glass walls open on two sides allowing the homeowner to enjoy the beautiful spring and fall weather, yet it is fully heated and cooled for the winter and summer. The four-season room spills out to more outdoor living space that includes a spacious patio with built-in seating, fire pit and grill.
Julian’s home was designed with entertaining and functionality in mind. The main level has a warm, open feel that includes a full walk-behind bar nestled perfectly between the kitchen and hearth area for main-floor entertaining. The lower level has a large family room with a full wet bar and wine cellar, perfect for game days. Two laundry rooms were thoughtfully included, one on each level, preventing the lugging of laundry up and down stairs.
Willis Custom Homes’ entry also offers a four-season room with sliding glass walls that open to a patio with fire pit and outdoor kitchen. The lower level opens to a second patio with another view of the private backyard. The open main level offers a dramatic dining room with the kitchen on one side and a full service bar on the other. The cosmopolitan-inspired great room features a limestone fireplace and bowed window bay that overlooks the treed back yard.
The lower level boasts a custom bar, wine room with built-in cabinets and wine chiller, a home theater room, billiard room, exercise room with mirrored walls, and three bedrooms with en suite baths. This home is available for $1.65 million.
Other members of the Loch Lloyd builder team include Evan-Talan Homes, Cecil & Ray Custom Homes, Forner-LaVoy Homes, Rick Standard, Koehler Building Company, Starr Homes, Tom French Construction, C & M Builders and Rodrock Custom Homes.
The homes featured on the Fall Parade are a prelude to a wide array of resort-like amenities that entice residents to spend time outside pursuing healthy activities. At the center of the resort lifestyle is The Country Club at Loch Lloyd, where members play golf on the acclaimed Tom Watson Signature Design, and enjoy all the venues that encourage healthy lifestyles, such as the fully equipped fitness center, tennis courts and swimming pools. The club also offers formal and informal dining venues provided by the award-winning culinary staff.
Loch Lloyd residents and members enjoy a multitude of activities that foster a strong sense of community, such as the Garden Club, summer programs for children and a vibrant social fabric with events like wine tastings, deck crawls and festive celebrations of the major holidays throughout the year.
This idyllic lifestyle feels like it is far removed from hectic city life but is actually only a few minutes from shopping and dining in Leawood and highway access. Visit Loch Lloyd this weekend. Drive through the gates just once, then you will understand what makes Loch Lloyd so special.
