Craftsmanship earns Sweetwater Creek a Grand Award

Outstanding construction techniques, selection of materials and quality craftsmanship are only a few of the reasons the Creekwood model home made Sweetwater Creek a Grand Award Winner in the 2014 Spring Parade of Homes.

Home builders, architects, interior designers and other construction trades from outside the Kansas City area canvassed the region this year to pick the area’s best homes. Sweetwater Creek was one of a select few to earn the coveted 2014 American Dream Grand Award.

The Creekwood model home was built by Steve Foley Construction Co. Inc., which is a third-generation building company that has been actively involved in the Kansas City custom-home market for more than 35 years. Foley said he builds each home as if it were his own, using only quality materials such as Andersen windows, 50-year roofs, upgraded insulation packages and engineered floors.

“We want homeowners to be impressed by what they see cosmetically like the tile, granite and the decor.” Foley said. “We also want them to be impressed by the critical areas of the home that they may never see like the framing, insulation and mechanical systems. Our goal is to build the highest quality home possible, one in which our homeowners can be proud 10, 20, 30 years down the road.”

The two-story Creekwood model home offers four bedrooms, 31/2 bathrooms and a three-car garage, designed with a growing family in mind and priced at $319,950.

“We are really excited about our Creekwood floor plan,” Foley said. “It has many design features that make it a very functional, livable home.”

One such feature is the family foyer located just off of the kitchen. Busy homeowners can use the foyer’s storage closet as well as the integrated computer workstation. Foley also added built-in lockers perfect for children’s backpacks, coats or sports equipment.

If you follow the central staircase upstairs, you will find generous-sized bedrooms as well as a spacious master suite. The master suite has a spa-style bathroom with a jetted tub, double vanities and a vast walk-in closet. Homeowners can access the adjacent laundry room directly from the master closet or the hallway.

The Creekwood furnished model home is open daily for tours while four more homes are under construction, one of which is already sold.

One of the inventory homes under construction is another Creekwood floor plan that will be completed in early fall 2014 and is priced at $309,950.

Ground breaking on two reverse 11/2-story plans has also just begun in Sweetwater Creek. One of the homes underway is Foley’s award-winning Orvieto plan. This four-bedroom, three-bathroom reverse 11/2-story home features a stacked stone fireplace, hardwood floors and granite counter tops throughout the kitchen and bathrooms. Outside there is a covered back patio and a tandem third-car garage perfect for an extra-large vehicle or a boat.

The other home just underway is a brand new reverse 11/2-story plan, the Clearbrook. The open design of the main level offers a spacious master suite as well as another bedroom and full bathroom. The main level also features a large kitchen island, walk-in pantry and arched walkways. The lower level has an additional two bedrooms, bathroom and a recreation room. Outside there are covered front and back patios.

Located just 10 minutes south of Olathe in Spring Hill, Sweetwater Creek is the perfect community for homebuyers looking for small-town living while still being close to big-city conveniences. Sweetwater Creek has easy highway access to U.S. 169 and U.S. 69 and is near the Spring Hill Aquatic Center, Sycamore Ridge Golf Course and Hillsdale Lake. Restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores are just a few minutes away.

“There is definitely a strong sense of community found in Spring Hill,” Foley said. “From the school district to the local businesses, the small-town warmth is very apparent.”

The diverse contour of the land at Sweetwater Creek offers a wide assortment of available home sites with lot prices starting at just $39,000.

“It is difficult to find desirable home sites in this price range anymore.” Foley said. “Since our home sites in Sweetwater Creek are competitively priced, we are able to pass that savings on to our homeowners allowing them more home for their money.”

The available flat, daylight, and walkout home sites are situated on cul-de-sacs and along curved streets. Sweetwater Creek also offers highly sought-after treed lots which guarantee potential homeowners privacy from rear adjacent neighbors.

Students who live in Sweetwater Creek attend schools in the Spring Hill District, including the new Wolf Creek Elementary. The Spring Hill School District has earned 26 Standard of Excellence Awards and two Governor’s Achievement awards. The low teacher-student ratios, high test scores and state-of-the-art facilities make Spring Hill a simple choice for parents with school-aged children.
