Join the Parade and explore the best in Rodrock Development communities

What are you waiting for? Come and discover what thousands of Kansas Citians already know: The Spring Parade of Homes is not only a lot of fun, it’s also an ideal way of exploring new neighborhoods, innovative floor plans and the hottest in home designs.

Held through May 11, the Spring Parade of Homes, celebrating its 52nd year, boasts some 377 model homes decorated to showcase the latest in building and home design.

Rodrock Development has model homes at the ready in seven of its prestigious communities, including Grey Oaks in Shawnee; Southwick on the Lake in Overland Park; and Grayson Place, The Hills of Forest View, Stonebridge Meadows, Stonebridge Village and Stonebridge Park in Olathe.

In fact, an impressive four of these homes were deemed winners in this year’s Parade, including three homes in The Hills of Forest View at 24006 W. 124th Terrace and another in Grayson Place at 119th Street and Lone Elm Road.

The Hills of Forest View found Parade success with homes built by Summit Custom Homes, Hillman Home Building and J.S. Robinson Fine Homes.

“J.S. Robinson’s Catalina II reverse 11/2-story is a unique plan,” said Linda Roberts, community manager of The Hills of Forest View. “It’s built on a flat lot, but because of the floor plan, the lower level is exposed to the daylight by an open stairway. It also has a two-story opening from the basement to the ceiling of the great room on the first floor.”

At approximately 3,133 square feet with 1,844 square feet on the first floor, the home has a beautiful kitchen with built-in hutch in the dining area off the kitchen. The lower level has a bright, open recreation room, wet bar, two additional bedrooms and bath.

“It’s such a great plan,” Roberts said.

The second winner is Summit Custom Homes’ Cotton Creek IV, a popular, open plan, Roberts said.

“The fifth bedroom on the first floor is great for a guest room, office, playroom, or whatever extra room you need it to be,” she said. “It has a lovely covered patio off the kitchen and the master suite is just fantastic. The home is approximately 2,635 square feet, and includes a high-efficiency HVAC and Green Build Advantage features.”

And last, but definitely not least, is Hilmann Home Building’s Chesapeake II reverse 11/2-story, which features beautiful finishes, including a bubbling rock fountain in front, random-width hickory hardwood floors and two impressive fireplaces.

“The covered porch with composite decking and walkout/walkup lower level are ready for summer entertaining,” Roberts said. “And the kitchen is ideal for family gatherings, with glazed cabinets, granite, a spacious walk-in pantry and nice dining area.”

The winning entry in Grayson Place was built by James III Homes Inc. and is a two-story home in the popular Newcastle II floor plan.

“This floor plan has always been a winner with our family homebuyers,” said Anita Hadel, a marketing agent for Grayson Place.

And it’s easy to see why: The home boasts four bedrooms, 31/2 bathrooms and a three-car garage, all backing to vibrant green space. The eat-in kitchen has furniture-grade cabinetry, an oversized granite island, high-end appliances and a walk-in pantry. The master bedroom has a sitting room and the master bath has an oversized, tiled European walk-in shower and a jetted tub.

The Parade is open until Sunday, so there’s plenty of time to explore not only a winning home, but also the great neighborhoods that are Grayson Place and The Hills of Forest View.

With a variety of floor plans and a broad range of price points, starting in the $260,000s, the homes on Parade offer just a glimpse of what’s available in a Rodrock community. Whether buyers are looking for immediate move-in availability or scouting for a woodland view or acreage zoned for horses, Rodrock Development delivers. And as with all Rodrock Developments, each community is thoughtfully planned, laden with amenities, and built to the exacting standards for which Darol Rodrock has been renowned for more than 35 years.
