Inspired Homes’ Cottage Series perfect for 55-plus

Inspired Homes, Kansas City’s locally owned and operated home builder, has added the Cottage Series, three different ranch-style floor plans, to Kensington Farms in Lee’s Summit and The Reserve in Lenexa.

“The Cottage Series offers the same quality construction and custom features that Inspired Homes is already known for at a very reasonable price point,” said Ernie Wassmann, Inspired Homes president. “These three floor plans provide a unique opportunity for homebuyers, especially those aged 55-plus who can now build the home for their next chapter without sacrificing space, storage or desired finishes.”

The three floor plans available range in size from 1,601 to 1,904 square feet and are all two- to three-bedroom, two-bathroom ranch-style homes. Prices start in the mid-$200,000s.

“As age-restricted communities have become more popular, the construction of ranch-style floor plans in traditional communities has almost disappeared from the Kansas City market,” said Dan Walsh, vice president of marketing. “At Inspired Homes, our new ranch homes offer homebuyers space and custom details at a more affordable price point and with a better opportunity for resale than age-restricted. The interior finishes of our ranch-style homes mirror those of our larger floor plans with granite counter tops, hardwood flooring, stainless steel appliances, pantries and large master suites standard.”

The Cottage Series also offers energy-efficiency products, including exterior walls built with 2-foot by 6-foot construction, compared with the industry standard of 2-foot by 4-foot; blown-in insulation that is 2 inches thicker and doesn’t sink to the bottom over time like standard fiberglass insulation; 95 percent efficient furnaces; power-vented, low-E water heaters; low-E glass windows; a basement system that prevents leaks; studded and insulated basements with drywall ceilings; and much more.

Two of the three ranch floor plans are now modeled and open for viewing at Kensington Farms, and home buyers have the option to build these plans in the Retreats, a portion of the community dedicated exclusively to ranch-style floor plans, or the Cottages, a section that consists of both two-story and ranch-style homes.
