The Greens of Chapel Creek scores upcoming model row homes
Rodrock Development has long joked that the Greens of Chapel Creek, nestled alongside Shawnee Golf & Country Club, is a once-in-a-lifetime hole-in-one for its residents. There are few high-end communities that still offer lots abutting a thriving golf course. But the beauty of the rolling greens and the privacy they provide are only part of what drives buyers to the neighborhood.
The community is part of the DeSoto School District, feeding directly into Mize Elementary, Mill Creek Middle School and DeSoto High School. The district welcomes 7,000 students through the doors of its 12 campuses, with seven elementary schools, three middle schools and two high schools.
The district states that it “has built a record of achievement in instructional program quality, policy development, efficiency of operation and student co-curricular activities … This dedicated service, combined with the support of civic leaders and the cooperation of other community organizations and institutions, has resulted in the outstanding success USD 232 is now experiencing.”
And that success includes the superior ranking of DeSoto High School as No. 4 among the top-rated high schools in Kansas by U.S. News and World Reports.
But while the school district is readying itself for the beginning of the school year — and, no doubt, continued success — it won’t be alone in getting a decidedly fresh start. The Greens of Chapel Creek thrilled to introduce its own new, improved look in the form of a model row of homes, which are slated for completion in March.
“We are so excited to get into new models,” said Bob Sloan, a longtime Rodrock Development marketing agent. “We get so many people wanting to look at homes, but we don’t have but one home that’s ready to show, aside from our model. It will be nice, as well, to have all of the different styles to show, including reverse 11/2-stories, 11/2-stories, and a nice selection of two-stories.”
Rodrock & Associates Realtors agents will office out of an expanded version of the Laurel Reverse by James Engle Custom Homes LLC.
“It will feature walls of glass at the back of the home to capture the golf-course views,” said Ben Tarwater, president of James Engle Custom Homes LLC. “A vaulted dining room with dramatic beams and windows on all three sides will allow plenty of light into the area and also offer golf-course views. The home will employ features of Universal Design, such as a no-step entry and a curbless master shower to show people the conveniences of living without steps in the home.”
Another of the model homes will be constructed by Prieb Homes in the popular Ellsworth plan. A third-generation home builder, Prieb Homes has built more than 4,000 homes in the Johnson County area.
“We’re very excited to not only be another featured model home builder in a Rodrock Development community, but to be able to showcase one of our new plans we’ve received rave reviews on,” said Greg Prieb II, president. “The entry has a 21/2-story entry vault with wood beams and tongue/groove paneling on the ceiling. At more than 3,400 square feet, the Ellsworth beautifully captures the best in golf-course living. Prieb Homes is privileged to have the opportunity to be invited to be part of such a glamorous new homes model row.”
Brad Plamann, president of Hilmann Home Building, is likewise thrilled that his company will get the opportunity to add a new 11/2-story model home to the row.
“We took our most popular Chesapeake II Expanded plan and converted it from a reverse to a conventional story-and-a-half up,” Plamann said. “It will have five bedrooms (or four and an office), four bathrooms, two laundry areas, a huge loft area, separate playroom and a basement area large enough to accommodate another entertainment area and several bedrooms.”
James III Homes is also trying its hand at a new plan to be featured in the row, and it’s a model the company is eager to try out.
“In this home, we’re putting great focus on the kitchen, breakfast room and great room,” explained Skeet Jameson, president. “The kitchen will be very large, open and have a large granite island. The breakfast room is just beautiful, with vaulted ceilings, while a covered lanai with fireplace is right off the kitchen.”
The model will have five bedrooms, 51/2 bathrooms, a finished walkout basement (an extra buyers can opt for) and a patio off the walkout door.
“The Greens of Chapel Creek, in general, is one of the best locations in Johnson County,” Jameson added. “As far as access to the metro, there isn’t anything like it. It’s easy to jump on 10 Highway, Shawnee Mission Parkway. You’re right there to the Plaza, downtown, to Lawrence and so many other great locations.”
And it goes without saying that a huge selling point for many residents is the Shawnee Golf & Country Club, which offers not only one-of-a-kind views but also affordable club memberships for both families and individuals. The club boasts a 27-hole championship golf course designed by Lyndy Lindsey, four sets of tee boxes, an aqua driving range, three swimming pools (swimming, sports and a wading pool for small children), hard-surface tennis court, fitness center and luxurious clubhouse with women’s and men’s locker rooms as well as dining facilities.
A stellar location, a new model row of homes, a spectacular school district and a beautiful golf course — there’s so much to be excited about at the Greens of Chapel Creek. It’s definitely a great time to tee up in this one-of-a-kind community.
