Rodrock Homes’ Parade entries include ideal locations, stunning décor and family-friendly communities.
Emmy and Chris Pole started house hunting in early 2019, searching for a new build relatively close to their children’s school, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Leawood.
After touring several communities and settling on Rodrock’s Mission Ranch at 157th St. and Mission Road, the couple chose a site to accommodate their vision and lifestyle. The Cheyenne, a 1.5-story floor plan with abundant open space, natural light and distinctive living areas, appealed to the Pole’s desire to heavily customize a home, utilizing every inch of usable space for a functional and beautiful residence.
“The Cheyenne afforded us all priorities we sought in a perfect home,” said Emmy Pole. “Our children, ages 3, 5 and 7, each have private rooms and bathrooms with room to grow. The shared loft space will provide much-needed separation going forward. Chris and I wanted a first-floor master suite as we enter the next phase of parenting. A formal dining room wasn’t required, since we never used it in our previous home, and zero wasted square footage was important.”
Other modifications were made in the main, open kitchen to fit the rhythm and flow of the family’s evenings, which center around dinnertime and Chris’s culinary talents.
“The range hood is a slab of quartzite like we used on our backsplash and countertops,” Emmy Pole said. “Wrapped on three sides, it creates a dramatic, modern focal point. This unique feature is something we imagined and Rodrock’s design team made it a reality.”
Kristen Ridler, one of Rodrock’s interior design professionals, helped the Pole’s achieve their overall style goals.
“Kristen is talented, enjoyable and approachable,” Emmy Pole said. “And our project manager, Al Vanderweide, is honest, fair, responsive and likable. He made our first home-building experience personal.”
One Cheyenne feature that Emmy, a pediatric nurse who paused her career to stay home with the children, and Chris, a partnering ophthalmologist at Cokingtin Eye Center, particularly liked was the lower level’s future potential.
“Eventually the walkout basement will be for entertaining and include a game room, family room and bar, along with a guest suite and home gym,” said Emmy Pole. “With lots of daylight and access to outside, it will feel like another floor of our home.”
The Pole’s liked Rodrock’s robust selection of communities throughout Johnson County and a diverse variety of professionally decorated model homes featuring trend-setting details — something that helped Emmy cultivate and refine her style preferences. “If you’re purchasing a new home, I recommend touring as many models as possible, even if they’re not your specific floorplan,” she said. “I gained inspiration from Rodrock’s models, including lighting, my floor choice — wider planks — and discovered the type of windows that fit my aesthetic.”
Rodrock Strong. Synonymous with integrity and quality, Rodrock is dedicated to helping families like the Pole’s find a home to make lifetime memories. For nearly 40 years, the company has passionately aligned its authentic, family-centered approach with this mission while expanding to fulfill the area’s needs. As Kansas City’s leading residential real estate developer, Rodrock’s strength and stability has earned the trust of thousands of families with the most significant purchase they’ll ever make: their home.
Mike O’Dell, a real estate agent with Group O’Dell Real Estate, Keller Williams Realty Partners, thinks now is an ideal time to buy a home in a strong community with respected builders.
“Rodrock’s track record is second to none, with well-planned and developed communities and high-quality homes,” he said. “Their processes are seamless, and the team is top-notch. The market has many options — you can’t go wrong with Rodrock.”
Emmy and Chris Pole, who moved into their sparkling new Cheyenne on January 8, appreciate Rodrock’s willingness to honor every “creative liberty we wanted with the existing Cheyenne floorplan. The result is a home that defines how our family lives. It’s a place where we can be together when we want, but also find solitude when necessary.”
