Local home builder Summit Custom Homes is a different kind of home builder. Not only is Summit consistently winning awards for its green, energy-efficient homes, it’s also receiving recognition for its exceptional customer service, company growth and community involvement.

The award-winning builder was recently listed by Builder Magazine as No. 166 of the 200 largest builders in the entire nation, as well as one of the top 10 fastest growing builders in the nation and a top 10 up-and-coming building firm by the Kansas City Business Journal. The company recently took home four awards for its 2014 Spring Parade of Homes entries, as well.

Summit Custom Homes has a trophy case in its Lee’s Summit-based office to display the awards it’s received throughout the years since its start in early 2002, and there is a section of its website dedicated to listing those awards.

“We’re proud of the awards,” said Kevin Stucker, vice president of sales and marketing. “We work hard for them and they validate that hard work and reinforce that we’re doing something right. We offer homeowners exceptional homes in exceptional communities and our goal is to deliver outstanding value, innovative design and extraordinary quality. Our entire team is focused on delivering on this goal.”

“It is such an exciting honor to be recognized with these awards and accolades,” said Megan Fratzke, marketing manager. “It’s an exciting time to be in the home-building industry, and our growth just adds to that excitement. We have a hard-working, professional, experienced team and exceptional trade and Realtor partners who have dedicated themselves to making this a great company.

“We also have our homeowners to thank. We know that we are in the business of bringing dreams to reality, and we don’t take that lightly. It is our mission to exceed our customer’s expectations. Our homeowners are what matter the most, and they hold us to a high standard.”

It’s easy to see that Summit’s efforts do not go unnoticed. Summit has a page of its website dedicated to client testimonials. Among the comments are:

“Thank you for an awesome experience in buying our first new home. Everyone has been so nice and helpful. It made the process so much less stressful than what I thought it would be!”

“We chose Summit most importantly, because of the Green Build Advantage. I must say, though, our house is beautiful. The design and the floor plans of Summit Custom Homes … that was another thing that helped us choose them as a builder. There’s room for our family to grow, and the floor plans are phenomenal.”

“Of all the great things we could say about SCH, we are most impressed with their incredible organization, efficiency, and attention to detail. This translates to great customer satisfaction, as we were never without an answer or a solution.”

“Summit was the only company we considered working with because we knew that luxury is standard in the homes they build. I can’t say enough good things about our experience … ”

One of the things that sets Summit apart from other builders is its standard features that are often considered add-on features by other builders. They include stucco and stone veneer front elevations; wide-plank hardwood flooring in all main floor traffic areas; island kitchens with custom-made designer cabinetry; rubbed-copper wrought-iron stair spindles; spa master bathroom with tiled flooring and an oversized tiled walk-in shower with dual shower heads; premium Delta plumbing fixtures; and stainless steel GE kitchen appliances, to name a few.

Summit’s homes are energy efficient, as well. “Perhaps the most important factor for buyers to know about our homes is that every single home we build features our proprietary Green Build Advantage program,” Stucker said. “We take steps to maximize energy efficiency, protect indoor air quality and incorporate sustainable building practices into every home we build. In addition, every home we build is independently inspected and awarded a HERS rating to document the home’s energy efficiency. Our homes are nearly twice as efficient as homes built just 10 years ago.”

Healthier indoor air quality is achieved by using formaldehyde-free insulation; low or no VOC (volatile organic compound) paints, glues and sealants where available; a passive radon remediation system; sealed air distribution duct work; and a high-particulate MERV-11 furnace filter. This all translates into a healthier and more comfortable living environment.

Summit Custom Homes not only builds great homes, it is dedicated to giving back to the community. Summit has built the St. Jude Dream Home for the past three years and is doing it again this year. The 2014 Dream Home will be open for tours in August and the home will be given away to one lucky winner on Oct. 12.

Over the past three years, the team at Summit has raised nearly $3 million for the kids at St. Jude. Its 2014 goal is to sell 7,500 tickets and raise $750,000 through the Dream Home Giveaway. Summit is also a supporter of the Drumm Farm Center for Children and was the 2014 Annual Benefit Dinner Benefactor Sponsor.

“These organizations are doing amazing things for children, and we are privileged to be able to help out,” said Fred Delibero, president and CEO of Summit Custom Homes. “We have experienced great success as a company and it is important to us that we give back to the community.”
