The Village of Loch Lloyd is a “must visit” community during the Fall Parade of Homes which starts Saturday, Sept. 27. Once inside the gates, homebuyers will want to see the innovative custom home Don Julian has under construction.

“Although this home is about five months from completion, it is the perfect time for someone to buy it and then work with renowned designer Janet Alholm to select finishes and customize it to fit their style,” Julian said.

Julian has been building custom homes in the Kansas City area for more than 40 years and has amassed more awards from the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City than any other builder in its history. He also is listed by the Kansas City Business Journal as No. 5 of the top Kansas City home builders based on constructing more than 90 homes in 2013.

This industry veteran was one of the first to build homes at Loch Lloyd when it opened and returned to the gated, resort-lifestyle community when the new phase of home sites surrounding the new Tom Watson Signature Design golf course became available. Julian’s latest model home is the sixth his company has built in the new phase.

The Julian model home under construction now is a reverse 11/2-story design with a stone and stucco exterior that blends perfectly with the Scottish flair of Loch Lloyd. It is on a large private wooded lot and offers features desired by today’s homebuyers.

Designed for entertaining, the 5,500-square-foot home is highlighted by a spectacular four-season room adjoining the hearth room that allows the homeowners and their guests to experience the outdoors all year round. The four-season room has its own fireplace and is enclosed by walls of glass that slide open to allow fresh air during warm weather, perfect for the crisp fall weather. The sliding glass doors step out on one side to the back yard for grilling or take the stairs on the other side to the covered patio on the lower level.

In addition to the four-season room, the dining, hearth and breakfast rooms flow in an open design across the back of the house, offering views of the secluded backyard. A cast stone, two-sided fireplace separates the hearth and dining rooms.

Julian designed a custom curved, walk-behind wet bar next to the breakfast room to further enhance the entertaining experience. The main level is finished off with a spacious master suite and a flex room that could be used as a study or entertainment room.

The lower level is finished with an expansive recreation room that is a wide open 28- by 40-foot space with no beams, made possible by an engineered truss floor system. It is big enough to accommodate a pool table while still having room for seating areas. The recreation room also has a walk-behind wet bar and wine cellar and walks out to a covered patio.

Convenience is part of this home’s design with thoughtful touches such as the full laundry in the expansive master closet, as well as another full laundry on the lower level to serve the additional three bedrooms and three bathrooms there. The main-level master suite includes a ceramic tile floor, dual vanities, glass enclosed tile shower and jetted tub.

The attached three-car, side-entry garage is built on a suspended slab, providing a 22- by 32-foot space underneath for a theater room, extra storage or a storm shelter.

Julian is excited about this new home and part of that excitement stems from the setting within Loch Lloyd. Julian said few, if any, new-home developments in the Kansas City area compare to Loch Lloyd.

“The new home sites have everything that buyers want — a natural setting, trees, lots of privacy and many have views of the new Tom Watson Signature Design golf course,” he noted.

Julian also appreciates the rolling terrain and Loch Lloyd’s planning, design and streetscape.

“The attention to detail is amazing,” he noted, pointing out some of the special touches found at Loch Lloyd.

Add to that the financial strength of developer FiveStar Lifestyles, owned by Neal Patterson and Cliff Illig, and it is a winning combination for homebuyers, Julian believes.

Chuck Campbell, FiveStar Lifestyles marketing director, concurred. “Loch Lloyd is the most successful new development in Kansas City today thanks to the vision and financial strength of our ownership group. Homebuyers know buying or building a home in Loch Lloyd is a sound financial investment and an amazing investment in the lifestyle they aspire to lead.”

Loch Lloyd has assembled what the developers believe is the finest, most experienced builder team in Kansas City and includes Don Julian Homes, Tom French Construction, C & M Builders, Evan-Talan Homes, Cecil & Ray Custom Homes, Forner-LaVoy Homes, RM Standard and the Koehler Building Company.

While Loch Lloyd is well known for its outstanding golf courses, golf isn’t the only resort-style amenity. The resort experience is further enhanced by the state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming, tennis, formal and informal dining venues including a carryout option, garden club, summer programs for children and a secured gate at the village entrance.

“Leave the hectic world behind and embrace the healthy, active, yet peaceful resort lifestyle at Loch Lloyd,” Campbell said. “Come out this weekend to tour the furnished model by Koehler Building Company and the homes under construction by Don Julian and Tom French. Come see for yourself why Loch Lloyd is so special.”
