This is the time of year when people dream of spending time on the golf course, at the pool, on the tennis court — anywhere that they can enjoy the outdoors. There is no better place to live than in a maintenance-provided community where all of those things are offered just outside your door and you actually have free time to enjoy them.

Where can you find such a community? In The Elan of Staley Farms, which offers single-family patio homes that emphasize main-level living. But don’t wait too long to choose one. Of the 56 available home sites here, only 15 remain, as well as two spec homes, said Carter Buschardt, with The Rob Ellerman Team of ReeceNichols, who markets Staley Farms.

The Elan is part of the master-planned Staley Farms community in the Northland developed by Don Julian, who has a stellar career of more than 40 years building award-winning homes and developing communities throughout Kansas City.

Staley Farms offers a life of casual elegance in 600 acres of scenic beauty nestled among the rolling hills and lush surroundings. Eventually it will have 600 homes in distinct areas that in addition to The Elan include The Enclave, where only two inventory homes and one golf course home site remain; Shadow Woods and Creek Club. A new area, The Links, will open later this year.

Now, during the Spring Parade of Homes, is a great time to discover The Elan. Two homes are featured on the Parade. One is an Overland II reverse plan by Don Julian, featuring four bedrooms and 31/2 bathrooms. This home at 10009 N. Michigan is priced at $389,900.

The other is a reverse plan by Ben Cerra at 10015 N. Michigan with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It also is priced at $389,900.

Provided maintenance in The Elan for a $145 monthly fee includes lawn care and snow removal, thus freeing residents to enjoy all the amenities offered at Staley Farms.

The community’s 4,000-square-foot Sports and Recreation Resident’s Club is home to a zero-entry swimming pool with a whirlpool and a giant waterslide. There is also a full-size indoor basketball court and gym, fitness center, tennis courts, sand volleyball, outdoor spa and a playground featuring equipment selected for its safety as well as its contribution to the physical development of children.

Staley Farms borders the private 18-hole Staley Farms Country Club golf course that features 7,028 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72, featuring excellent conditioning and clever routing.

Family memories are also created at the 32,000-square-foot Staley Farms Golf & Country Club Clubhouse, where residents gather for community activities, private parties, banquets and weddings. Featuring five fireplaces, fine woodwork and what the marketing team described as a rustic elegance that befits a mountain lodge, the dining area offers a panoramic view of the golf course with seating on the patio that ensures a “relaxed and sumptuous experience.”

While at Staley Farms to see Parade entries in The Elan, visit the two entries in Shadow Woods: Don Julian’s 11/2-story, four-bedroom, 31/2 bathroom home at 2811 NE 102nd Terrace priced at $429,900 and Klopfenstine Construction’s four-bedroom, three-bathroom ranch plan at 2910 NE 102nd St., priced at $499,900.

Staley Farms is in the North Kansas City School District and students attend Bell Prairie Elementary, New Mark Middle and Staley High schools.

Staley Farms is minutes from downtown and close to Zona Rosa shopping and restaurants, as well as Kansas City International Airport.

The Rob Ellerman Team also represents these communities where homes are featured on the Spring Parade of Homes:
