Ideal location, beautiful views —The Greens of Chapel Creek delivers
Golf-course lots are popular for a variety of reasons — the desire to be surrounded by rolling green space (you don’t have to tend yourself), the appeal of increased privacy or just the quiet respite nature provides — so such lots go for a premium in most neighborhoods.
But to have an entire community built around a thriving course, with the chance to build the house of your dreams on such exceptional lots? That’s a rare opportunity in and of itself. Such is the case at Rodrock Development’s Greens of Chapel Creek in Shawnee.
The community feels tucked away from the noise and bustle of city living, yet is just minutes from key metropolitan area destinations. And with a variety of single-family two-story, 11/2-story and reverse 11/2-story homes — built by some of Kansas City’s top builders, including Hilmann Home Building, James III Homes, James Engle Custom Homes, Casa Bella Construction, Prieb Homes Inc., C & M Builders, KC Building Co. Inc. and more — families have a fantastic array of choices, priced from $400,000 to $700,000.
The Machon family started building its home in the Greens of Chapel Creek with Hilmann Home Building last July and closed Dec. 17. The community’s location close to Kansas 7, Interstate 435 and Shawnee Mission Parkway was a big selling point for the family. Even better? Their new five-bedroom, four-bathroom home is also ideally situated, making the most of the gorgeous golf course greens.
“We love the larger lots and the fact that the neighborhood is on high ground and built around a beautiful golf course,” Jeannie Machon said. “We have incredible views from the front and back of our house of the golf course and the lights of the town below.”
The family loves the home’s open floor plan, while the covered deck, complete with stone fireplace, makes an ideal gathering spot to take in the amazing views.
“We also have a stone fireplace in our master bedroom and living room that we really enjoy,” Machon said. “And we have an unfinished basement, which has been converted into a synthetic ice rink for our son.”
The Machon family has also made the most of this very social neighborhood. “So far, we’ve gone to two home association’s events: an adults’ night out and an Easter Egg hunt,” Machon said. “We love the community feeling of this neighborhood and the amenities, such as the pool and beautiful landscaping. We’re very happy with the management here and had only good experiences with the builder and developer. We look forward to spending many years here and making some great friends/neighbors in the near future.”
“It’s been a busy spring thus far for the Greens of Chapel Creek,” said Bob Sloan, a longtime Rodrock Development marketing agent, “and the community has seen a boom in both home building and buying.”
“Hilmann Home Building has a pair of two-story homes nearing completion,” continued Sloan. “The Highland II is in a cul-de-sac, across the street from the new Erfert Park, which should open early this summer. As well, we have a Middleton IV at finishing stages in a cul-de-sac across from the pool and the new city park. The Traveler Manor III, by KC Building Co., is in the finishing stages as well. This grand two-story offers terrific views of the golf course and skyline far to the north and comes with basement finish as part of the package.”
But this is only the beginning, with the Ellsworth by Prieb Homes also in the finishing stages. “This is a new plan for him, and we’re excited to have it in our inventory,” Sloan said. “This beauty has a wonderful view, backing to the golf course. James III Homes has his proven Aspen III Five at paint stage on a cul-de-sac, with a full walkout lower level, overlooking the entrance to Erfert Park.”
Still, if your heart is set on building, the Greens of Chapel Creek will open 54 new lots by June, over half of which back to the rolling golf course and/or ponds. These lots, ranging from 83 to 100 feet in width, provide for a variety of unique floor plans. Such careful preparation helps ensure that the community is anything but cookie-cutter in appearance.
And it goes without saying that a huge selling point for many a resident is the Shawnee Golf & Country Club, which offers not only one-of-a-kind views but also affordable club memberships for both families and individuals. The club boasts a 27-hole championship golf course designed by Lyndy Lindsey, four sets of tee boxes, an aqua driving range, three swimming pools (swimming, sports and a wading pool for small children), hard-surface tennis court, fitness center, and luxurious clubhouse with women’s and men’s locker rooms and dining facilities.
In addition to Erfert Park, the Greens of Chapel Creek also boasts a recently opened zero-entry infinity pool with fountain, changing cabana, pergola-covered gas grill and picnic area. As well, Rodrock Development’s unique Moms’ Council helps ensure a variety of community-building events, such as pumpkin-carving parties, holiday hayrides and more. And since the community is in the award-winning DeSoto School District, including Mize Elementary, Mill Creek Middle School and DeSoto High School, the Greens of Chapel Creek is an ideal location for growing families.
With distinctive views, the serenity of nature, unparalleled home quality and the added bonus of affordable club memberships, the Greens of Chapel Creek is a living experience like no other.
