Resort-style community’s longtime builder finds success with value-driven approach

Tabernacle Homes has been building in Cedar Creek for more than a decade in a variety of price ranges, including from the mid-$400,000s. “It’s not one of those neighborhoods that’s simply out of reach,” said Steve Trued of Tabernacle Homes.

When Tabernacle Homes arrived at Cedar Creek nearly 12 years ago, the builder quickly realized a significant opportunity.

“We saw a real opportunity for more value-priced homes,” said Steve Trued of Tabernacle Homes. “We started building in the mid-$400,000s and became one of the top builders at Cedar Creek. It’s been a great partnership.”

The resort-style amenities and stately homes of Cedar Creek have made the master-planned community synonymous with quality and luxury. Yet as more homeowners are discovering, Cedar Creek is more accessible than they realize.

“There’s an exclusivity that comes with Cedar Creek, but at the same time, you can live there in the $400,000s,” Trued said. “It’s not one of those neighborhoods that’s simply out of reach. Our feeling is that a home is important to a family, whether it’s their first home or their dream home. We’re not stuck in just one price range.”

Tabernacle Homes’ current building inventory is an ideal example of the range of price points and architectural styles that await prospective buyers. Tabernacle Homes is one of several builders working to complete a new model row in one of Cedar Creek’s newer neighborhoods, The Ridge at Shadow Glen.

Trued described the home as a “very contemporary, Frank Lloyd Wright-type design. You won’t see anything else on model row like it.”

The homes are scheduled to be complete in time for next year’s Spring Parade of Homes. The Ridge at Shadow Glen is also home to Cedar Creek’s last remaining golf course homesites, ideal opportunities for buyers who want to secure one of these coveted locations and work with Tabernacle Homes on a custom-built home. Plus, homeowners in The Ridge at Shadow Glen enjoy the convenience of maintenance-provided living.

In Valley Ridge, also one of Cedar Creek’s newer neighborhoods, the Tabernacle team currently has a new speculative home underway. The homes are priced from the low $400,000s and $500,000s with homesites that offer walkout, daylight or flat options.

Valley Ridge continues to draw prospective homeowners at a rapid rate, thanks to a prime location that’s near Cedar Creek Elementary School, Olathe City Park and an area swimming pool.

Trued said Tabernacle Homes also owns three estate-sized lots throughout Cedar Creek. Two are located in The Reserve at Shadow Lake, which Trued said is among “the most exclusive neighborhoods in Johnson County.” One estate-sized homesite is also available in North Shore Estates, a beautiful neighborhood that borders Shadow Lake and is nearly complete.

“It’s getting harder to find estate lots, especially those that are a great value,” Trued said. “These homesites are priced in the $220,000s and would be ideal for custom build jobs.”

Additionally, all homeowners benefit from the exemplary customer service and attention to detail that are hallmarks of Cedar Creek’s real estate team.

“Cedar Creek is one of our preferred locations, mostly because of the excellent staff they have there and the beautiful location between the lake and the award-winning golf course,” Trued said.

Regardless of which neighborhood Cedar Creek homeowners call their own, all residents have access to a truly incredible amenities package that includes two swimming pools, the 65-acre Shadow Lake, four lighted tennis courts, jogging and walking trails, the Swim & Racquet Club and an indoor gymnasium that’s equipped for basketball, volleyball, aerobics and a performance stage.

In addition to nearby Cedar Creek Elementary School, Cedar Creek students also attend Mission Trail Junior High School and the brand-new Olathe West High School, which opened to widespread acclaim just weeks ago. The community is also within close proximity to St. James Academy Catholic High School.
